La Di Da Di

Yesterday I dedicated my twitter page to one one of my fave MC's Slick Rick. Why you ask? Well I've always loved the the late 80s and 90s era (90s baby woot woot! lol) and I don't know something about it really appeals to me. I was watching some early Spike Lee "joints" (Do The Right Thing, Crooklyn, etc...) and I was inspired by the fashion and I started sketching some designs that reflected this time. Soooo long story short I just thought I would post some photos, music, and some video clips from back in the day. Enjoy!

Slick Rick & Doug E Fresh - La Di Da Di (1985)

Do The Right Thing (1989)

A Tribe Called Quest - Electric Relaxation (1992)

Pharcyde - Passin Me By (1993)

Easy E - Boyz N' The Hood (1986)

DJ Jazzy Jeff & Will Smith - Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
(One of my FAVE TV shows to this day)

Dope People You Should Know | Fuze The MC

If you haven't heard of him than PLEASE get your ears out the mainstream for a quick sec. He goes by the name of Fuze the MC. Fuze has opened for J. Cole. Big Boi himself has said in reference to Fuze "...the dopest nigga I've heard all year...and it's July." This song is from his new project that he is currently working on. Enjoy.

I thought I should include this one too...one of my personal faves from Stereo Typical Music (2010).

DOPE! Need I Say More?

Now the only thing I have to do is learn how to skateboard *grabs helmet and knee pads*...O_o

Let's Kick, Push & Coast.

Dizkreet | Power REMIX

So I was introduced to Elmo's blog today (not the Sesame Street character lol) and found this remix. In my opinion this is the DOPEST remix to Kanye's "Power" that I've heard thus far. This Ethiopian artist goes by the name of Dizkreet and there is no lie that this guy has talent on the mic. For more on Dizkreet visit his website. But for now just listen.

Old People Are DOPE!

Especially this guy. When I'm his age I want to be just as happy as he is. lol

"These leopard print, penny loafers, which are a collaboration between Weejuns and prepster fashion desginer Mark McNairy (how many times in his life has he been called McHairy—5,000 at least I’ll bet), are so of the moment perfect that they are capable of making a shoe lover sick. Va$htie's Look

Ok well if you guys don't know Vashtie Kola then SMH at you. Vashtie, aka "Downtown's Sweetheart", is an artist, music video director, fashion designer (Violette), and party promoter (mostly known for her "1992" parties).
While I was on her blog I came across this photo of her and I fell in love with her outfit. I absolutely loved how she balanced out the tight mini skirt with a loose denim shirt. It's all about balance people! lol

Melody Ehsani | New Shoe

So far I have not mentioned Melody Ehsani on my blog and I should be shunned from the fashion world because of that. To redeem myslef I have posted this sneak peak of her new shoe (directly off her blog).

"Style and Fashion Isn't Always the Same..."

I was reading some posts on Highsnobette when I came across this one.

"A blogger made an unflattering comment about Olsen’s head wrap at the YSL Belle d’Opium party we attended a few weeks ago while, Lois and I on the other other hand were totally fiending over it . Not just because the accessory in itself was to die for but because style-wise we got it.In her own way this young woman illustrated a deeper understanding of fashion that is not always ’styling appropriate’ in color choice or proportion proving that style and fashion are not always the same . Having worked a a stylist myself I can speak to proportions color choice, highlighting this or that feature. But, style is often is about how you feel what you want to express , the story, the glamour or un-glamour .Not always about having the ‘right ‘ look, whatever that may be.

Therefore, when the fashion establishment sometimes frowns at bloggers( not that they all know what they are talking about) I get it because to some extent , there’s a lack of knowledge of the history of where certain looks or inspirations come from. The head wrap for example was all about the true spririt of Yves Saint -Laurent who himself was Morrocan , featured caftans in his collections in the 60’s, made his fame by artfully contrasting a sexy exoticism with functionality, think Marisa Berenson or Bianca Jagger. However too many out there don’t even know …"

She's HOTTT! Point Blank Period

I saw this picture of Amber Rose on Fashion Bomb Daily and I have got to say that I La-La-LOVE this on her! It is super whimsical, fun, and the colors just catch your eye, whether you love it or not. However, I do think she is the only female I know that can pull this off. lol

Design Your Own Timex80

During my many blog searches, I saw this post on Highsnobette. Really liked the idea and tried it out. I must admit that I had sooo much fun designing the Timex watch and can't wait to order mine. Click here and try adding a lil bit of color to make that outfit of yours complete.

Uhmm soo he's DOPE haha. Don't sleep on this North Carolina native lol.

Hatin IS a Weak Emotion.

SMH. Beanie throws Hov under the bus...again and disses Hip-Hop's "golden boy", Drake. Come on bro, public displays of hate is embarrasing, keep it to yourself. Dispite this, I can't wait till Beanie's "The Closure" drops. It'll be interesting to see what kind of heat he'll be bringing.
